Proclaiming The Gospel Through Song

Jonathan Aubuchon

Worship is the believer’s response of all they are, (mind, emotions, will, and body) to who God is and what he has done.”

The worship ministry at The Summit exists to bring glory to our Savior, Jesus Christ. As a worship ministry our desire is to create an atmosphere in which we are able to clearly communicate the entire Gospel— the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that worship is giving back to God what He has freely given to us. We do this through gathering as the body of Christ and proclaiming His name through music, prayer, and God’s word.

When we worship, we ascribe worth to something. We worship many things that are not God: money, status etc. But biblical worship turns that affection to God. We were created to worship God, but once sin came into the world we started (and continue today) ascribing worth to other things besides God. We try to be the object of worship, instead of the worshiper. We want to shift people’s focus back to the cross and to help develop true worshippers that give back to God what He has, through His mercy, given us. Singing is one of the highest expressions of joy but we don’t just worship through music. Worship is much more than that. Worship should be our entire life.

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.

Psalm 86:9-10 ESV

Our Goal

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength, ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”

1 Chronicles 16:23-31 ESV
